Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (570) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until April 2022.  

As of May 17, 2022, (1844) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (9) fallen heroes today. These (9) fallen heroes from Htantabin Township and Shwedaung Township in Bago Region, Yinmarbin Township, Budalin Township and Wetlet Township in Sagaing Regio and Lashio Township in Shan State were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.              

As of May 17, 2022, a total of (10661) people are currently under detention. (1069) people have been sentenced in person, of them 68 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1977 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 109 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

On May 11 at around  9 pm, 14-year-old Myo Myat Moe was shot to death by a policeman in  Zayat Gyi Police Precinct, Htantabin Township, Bago Region. He was killed in his home, located in an alley west of the police station, for allegedly pointing a flashlight at said station.

On May 11, the armed wing of the Junta raided Myoe Paw Village in Sagaing Region’s Budalin Township and shot a local villager called Zaw Win San to death while he was running away. 

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
