Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (570) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until April 2022.  

As of May 16, 2022, (1835) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today, there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.              

As of May 16, 2022, a total of (10650) people are currently under detention. (1067) people have been sentenced in person, of them 68 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1977 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 109 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

Accused of financially supporting the PDFs, Thae Hein, the son of Mon State Hluttaw Chairman Tin Ei, was arrested in his home in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State, by the armed wing of the junta on May 11.  

On May 14, at around 10 PM, the armed wing of the junta arrested Ma Ma Lay, an NLD representative in Amyotha Hluttaw, and her son Nay Myo Htet, both living in Pauk Taw Ward, Pindaya Township, Shan State. The latter worked at the ministry of cooperatives and had been part of the CDM since February 2021.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
