Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (57၀) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until April 2022.  

As of May 4, 2022, (1821) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (15) fallen heroes today. These (15) fallen heroes from Budalin Township and Shwebo Township in Sagaing Region were killed on May 2 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.            

As of May 4, 2022, a total of (10526) people are currently under detention. (1039) people have been sentenced in person, of them 65 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1977 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 106 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

Nine civilians, living in Oak Pho Village in Sagaing Region’s Budalin Township, were shot in the head from a close range by soldiers on May 2 at around 6 pm. These nine villagers were killed at monastery between Oak Pho Village and Ai Shay Village while fleeing the clashes. They are Bo Tin, Phoe Sate, Khin Saung, Soe, Ni, Bay Dar, Kyaw Myo Tun, Moe Moe and Win Maung.

On May 2, a civilian named Shine Htoo Aung was shot dead near Seik Khun Village in Sagaing Region’s Shwebo Township. He had seen junta soldiers while on his motorbike and tried to drive away.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
