Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (57၀) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until April 2022.  

As of May 2, 2022, (1803) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today, there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.              

As of May 2, 2022, a total of (10479) people are currently under detention. (1040) people have been sentenced in person, of them 65 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1977 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 106 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

On April 28, High School Teacher Cherry Thet Shay from Taungup Township, Rakhine State, charged under Section 50(j) of the Counter-Terrorism Law, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Thandwe Court. Cherry Thet Shay participated in Civil Disobedience Movement and was arrested in her house on November 20, 2021.

On April 28, at 6:30 PM, a Matriculation student Thae Yadanar Htwe from Maung Ma Kan Village, Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, was arrested by junta soldiers without apparent cause. She was taken to Dawei Prison and has since been denied visitation rights.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
