Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (547) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until March 2022.  

As of April 27, 2022, (1798) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today, there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.              

As of April 27, 2022, a total of (10377) people are currently under detention. (1008) people have been sentenced in person, of them 59 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1977 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 100 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

On April 27, State counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was already sentenced to six years of imprisonment, was sentenced to five more years under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law by a special court in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. State counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi allegedly accepted seven gold bars (roughly 11.4kg) and 600,000$ offered by the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, U Phyo Min Thein. 

Ohn is the aunt of Htet Htet Naing and a teacher involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM). On the afternoon of April 22, she was arrested as a hostage at home in Min Tatar Ward in Mandalay Region’s Mogoke Township when the armed wing of the Junta failed to find Htet Htet Naing, accused of supporting PDF members. Ohn was later released when Htet Htet Naing voluntarily went to the East Mogoke Police Station to get arrested.
