Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (547) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until March 2022.  

As of April 26, 2022, (1798) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (4) fallen heroes today. These (4) fallen heroes from Chanayethazan Township and Mahaaungmyay Township in Mandalay Region and Khin-U Township in Sagaing Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.            

As of April 26, 2022, a total of (10354) people are currently under detention. (1008) people have been sentenced in person, of them 59 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1977 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 100 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

The wife and daughter of Regional MP Thet Paing Soe of Ngapudaw Township, Ayeyarwady Region, Nan Yu Thein and 10 months old Su Myat Paing, Tin Oo, his uncle, and his 13 years old daughter Lone Chit, as well as their neighbors Kyaw Swar Win and A Nge Ma were all arrested as hostages by the junta on April 23 when Thet Paing Soe himself could not be found. They had been all living in Ka Nyin Chaung Village, Ngapudaw Township. 

In the early morning of April 23, junta soldiers raided Ywar Thar Village in Sagaing Region’s Khin-U Township by pretending to be of the People’s Defense Forces (PDF). They killed Aung Naing Soe by shooting him in the back while he was on his way home. Additionally, Nyein Kyaw, who was arrested as a hostage, was killed after being tortured.
