Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (547) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until March 2022.  

As of April 20, 2022, (1779) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (6) fallen heroes today. These (6) fallen heroes from Mahaaungmyay Township in Mandalay Region and Wetlet Township in Sagaing Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.            

As of April 20, 2022, a total of (10271) people are currently under detention. (996) people have been sentenced in person, of them 59 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1977 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 100 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

On April 7, at around 5 AM, a junta convoy of over 100 soldiers led by 33 Division raided Ywar Nan Village in Wetlet Township, Shwe Bo District in Sagaing Region, firing heavy artillery shells and burning  three elderly women and two men to death. The victims are Htay Hla (65 Years), Zaw (35 Years), Win (80 Years), Khin Htay (72 Years), and Ohn Shwe (80 Years). 

On the night of 19 April, a comedian Kaung Kyaw was arrested at his home in Ward (8), Thaketa Township, Yangon Region by several junta forces.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
