Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (547) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until March 2022.  

As of April 13, 2022, (1750) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (5) fallen heroes today. These (5) fallen heroes from Kale Township in Sagaing Region and Gangaw Township in Magway Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.            

As of April 13, 2022, a total of (10195) people are currently under detention. (996) people have been sentenced in person, of them 59 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1976 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 100 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

On April 8, three Chin youths were detained and killed by junta troops while on their way to a village from an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp to retrieve rations. The youths were themselves IDPs, from Hman Taw Village in Kale Township, Sagaing Region. Their names were Salai Thang Bik, his younger brother Salai Ni Dun Sang, and Lian Thio. 

On the evening of April 11, junta troops raided and burned down a house in Tha Hmone Gone Gyi Village in Natmauk Township, Magway Region. The armed wing of the junta afterwards arrested the head of the house, named Aung Htoo. 

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
