Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (547) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until March 2022.  

As of April 12, 2022, (1745) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (4) fallen heroes today. These (4) fallen heroes from Minbu Township and Seikphyu Township in Magway Regionand Kayin State were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.          

As of April 12, 2022, a total of (10183) people are currently under detention. (990) people have been sentenced in person, of them 59 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1976 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 100 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

On the morning of April 11, junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee militia raided Shar Hla Village in Seikphyu Township, Magway Region. In the raid, 84-year old Khin Than was burned alive to death while she was sleeping in a hut. When leaving the village, the armed wing of the junta planted mines at the entrance and exit of the village, which later resulted in the death of Min Oo who was returning to the village.

On April 10, 19-year old Aung Pyae Sone from Minbu Township in Magway Region was visiting Magway Town with his 2 female friends. The group were arrested for riding a motorcycle with 3 people, with Aung Pyae Sone later shot and killed.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
