Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (547) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until March 2022.  

As of April 1, 2022, (1723) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today, there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.  

As of April 1, 2022, a total of (10007) people are currently under detention. (905) people have been sentenced in person, of them 59 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1976 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 100 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

Htein Min Khing, head of the 88 Generation Peace and Open Society Meiktila Township; and his wife, Mi Mi Khing, who were charged under Section 505 A of the Penal Code, were shot and arrested by the junta. The violent arrest took place on March 30 around 10PM, in the house where they had been hiding, in Thar Yar Kone Ward, Yin Taw Town in east of Meiktila Township in Mandalay Region.

Kyaw Khing Win, a YBS bus driver charged under Section 505 A of the Penal Code, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison on March 30, 2022. On February 28, 2021, he had blocked the road with his bus to prevent police vehicles from getting through in order to protect anti-coup protestors from arrest in Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region.
