Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (440) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until February 2022.  

As of March 30, 2022, (1722) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. These (3) fallen heroes from Ayadaw Township in Sagaing Region and Thaton Township in Mon State were killed on March 29 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.      

As of March 30, 2022, a total of (9991) people are currently under detention. (886) people have been sentenced in person, of them 52 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1974 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 91 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.    

On the morning of March 29, the armed wing of the Junta raided and set fire to three houses in Parami Village, in Sagaing Region’s Ayadaw Township. Nyunt Shwe, aged 67 years old, was burnt alive in his house. He was not able to run away due to suffering from a stroke.

On March 28, Saung Hnin Phyu, aged 19 years old, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment under Section 50(j) and 52(a) of the Counter Terrorism Law by the court in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Prison. She was arrested at her home on August 22, 2021, accused of donating to the PDF through KBZ Pay. Saung Hnin Phyu had previously passed her matriculation exam.
