Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (440) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until February 2022.  

As of March 25, 2022, (1707) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. These (3) fallen heroes from Madaya Township in Mandalay Region were killed on March 23 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.      

As of March 25, 2022, a total of (9930) people are currently under detention. (873) people have been sentenced in person, of them 52 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1974 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 91 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.    

Tun Aung Kyaw (aged 15 years old), who is a chairman of the Basic Education Students’ Union of Za Bu Thi Ri Township in Nay Pyi Taw, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment on March 21. The 9th grader was sentenced six months after his arrest, on October 3, 2021. 

Thet Hmue Aung and Kalae Min Min Oo, who are members of the  Kayah State Students Union, were sentenced to three years imprisonment under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code by the Loikaw Township Court in Kayah State on March 22. They were arrested on June 12, 2021 for taking out supplies for IDPs at a bus stop on June 12, 2021 and were sentenced nine month after their arrest.  

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
