Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (440) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until February 2022.

As of March 24, 2022, (1704) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (4) fallen heroes today. These (4) fallen heroes Myawaddy Township in Karen State, Myingyan Township in Mandalay Region, Gangaw Township in Magway Region and Ye-U Township in Sagaing Region were killed today and previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.      

As of March 24, 2022, a total of (9909) people are currently under detention. (871) people have been sentenced in person, of them 52 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1974 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 91 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.    

In the morning of March 22, 2022, junta soldiers fired artillery shells directed at IDPs located in Htan Bel Hla Village, Ye-U Township, Sagaing Region. As a result, 8-year-old Nyan Phyo was killed, and 5 other people, including a 13-year-old girl, were injured.

On March 18, 2022, San Ko Naing, from Sin Chaung Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, was arrested after being beaten by junta soldiers at his home. The military claimed San Ko Naing was trying to flee and shot him in the leg. He was tortured and killed later.   

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
