Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (440) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until February 2022.

As of March 18, 2022, (1687) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (8) fallen heroes today. These (8) fallen heroes from Aungmyaythazan Township in Mandalay Region, Mingin Township and Kanbalu Township in Sagaing Region and Pauk Township in Magway Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.      

As of March 18, 2022, a total of (9773) people are currently under detention. (851) people have been sentenced in person, of them 45 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1973 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 84 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.    

On March 15, 2022, at around 9 pm, 20-year-old Nu Nu Win got shot dead on 12th Street, west of the Royal Palace’s moat, Aungmyaythazan Township, Mandalay Region. Nu Nu Win was with Aung Phyo Kyaw on a motorcycle, after buying snacks. Junta soldiers shot the two civilians, as they refused to stop for a check. Nu Nu Win got shot on the neck and died on the spot. Aung Phyo Kyaw was hit in the sternum and remains in serious condition.

On March 17, 2022, Khin Nyein Chan, Mhue Myat Ko Ko, Ye Yint Htet and Arkar Hphone Myat, all 15 years old, and Su Hnin Yi Aung, Theint Theint Moe and Myat Thu Htet, who are 17 years old, were charged under 52(a) and (b) of the Counter Terrorism Law by Nattalin Township Court. They were arrested in February, at Nattalin Township, Bago Region.
