Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (440) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until February 2022.

As of March 14, 2022, (1672) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (20) fallen heroes today. These (20) fallen heroes from Pauk Township in Magway Region, Shwebo Township, Taze Township, Khin-U Township, Kale Township and Yinmarbin Township in Sagaing Region and Nyaung-U Township in Mandalay Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.      

As of March 14, 2022, a total of (9625) people are currently under detention. (842) people have been sentenced in person, of them 45 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1973 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 84 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.    

On March 12, around 1 pm, the Junta troops raided and opened fire at the Sein Sar Village in Sagaing Region’s Taze Township and shot Thel Oo Phyu, aged 15 years old, in the chest and thigh. Thel Oo Phyu died on the spot. In addition, an elder woman was burned alive when junta soldiers set fire to houses in the village. She was unable to run away due to a disability.

On March 8, at around 7:30 pm, Soe Paing, living in Dee Dote Village in Magway Region’s Pauk Township, was arrested by the Pyu Saw Htee. He died, after being sent home around 9:30 pm, due to the injuries inflicted all over his body.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
