Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of March 3, (1597) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (7) fallen heroes today. These (7) fallen heroes from Gangaw Township in Magway Region were killed on February 28 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.    

As of March 3, a total of (9478) people are currently under detention. (810) people have been sentenced in person, of them 45 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1973 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 84 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.

On February 28, the armed wing of the Junta and Pyu Saw Htee personnel assaulted villages in Gangaw Township, Magway Region. Seven locals from Shwebo Village were killed. Their names are Thar Nyi, Wai Yan Oo, Zin Min Htut a.k.a Pyar Tar Maung, Nyein Chan Maung, Latt Soe, Win Soe and Tun Zaw. Five of the villagers were arrested, hands tied and burned alive, and two others were shot dead.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses. The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma), otherwise known as AAPP, is a human rights organization based in Mae Sot, Thailand and Rangoon, Burma.
