Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of February 9, (1540) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (11) fallen heroes today. These (11) fallen heroes Wetlet Township and Kantbalu Township in Sagaing Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.  

As of February 9, a total of (9056) people are currently under detention. (687) people have been sentenced in person, of them 45 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1974 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 84 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.   

Movie director, Wine, who was filed under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code, and was evading arrest, was arrested half an hour after he arrived at his apartment in Pazundaung Township, in Yangon Region, this past morning.

On the morning of January 30, Junta soldiers raided Thit Seint Gyi Village in Sagaing Region’s Wetlet Township by boat, by deploying artillery shells, and arrested six civilians named Thura Tun, Ko Ko Linn Maung, Min Min Tun, Myint Aung, Thel Tun Aung and Zaw Min Tun. They were killed after being used as human shields. Their burned bodies were found on February 4 in the field near the village, with their hands tied to the back, while villagers were searching for them, after the Junta soldiers left on February 3.
