Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of February 8, (1529) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. These (3) fallen heroes Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township in Yangon Region, Kyaukse Township in Mandalay Region and Minkin Township in Sagaing Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.
As of February 8, a total of (9034) people are currently under detention. (677) people have been sentenced in person, of them 45 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1974 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 84 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.
On the afternoon of February 3, Thurein Kyaw, who is a founder of Media Top 4 News Agency, was arrested at his home in Yangon Region’s Insein Township by the military. Allegedly, another reporter was arrested along with him.
In addition, novelist Khaing Htoo Thit, who wrote short novels for former Hmyar Nat Maung Magazine and Ma Hay Thi Magazine, was arrested on February 1 at Namhkam Township, in Shan State, and held at the interrogation center.
