Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of January 20, (1488) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (4) fallen heroes today. These (4) fallen heroes from Nahtogyi Township in Mandalay Region were killed on January 19 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.  

As of January 20, a total of (8702) people are currently under detention. (635) people have been sentenced in person, of them 43 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1966 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 82 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.

On January 18 at around 1 am, the armed wing of the Junta raided Latpan Village in Nahtogyi Township, Mandalay Region and arrested 13 local villagers. Four of these villagers named Myat Moe a.k.a Phoe Gyi, Kyaw Myo Win, Phoe Htaw and Myo Min Htet, who are farmers, were killed during interrogation on January 19. 

On January 19, Rakhine State Chief Minister named Nyi Pu, who was already sentenced to two years imprisonment, was sentenced to a total of nine years imprisonment for three counts of Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law, by the prison court in Sittwe Prison. He has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for each count.
