Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of January 19, (1484) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (1) fallen hero today. This (1) fallen hero from Htigyaing Township in Sagaing Region was killed on the previous day and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.  

As of January 19, a total of (8687) people are currently under detention. (627) people have been sentenced in person, of them 41 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1966 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 80 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.

Two reporters named Moe Myint and Zaw, and Thar Gyi, all from Dawei Watch News Media based in Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region, were arrested by the junta. On January 18 at 11 pm, Moe Myint was arrested at her home and Zaw and Thar Gyi were arrested today, at around 2 am.   

On the night of January 16, soldiers from the armed wing of the Junta could not find Pyithu Hluttaw MP, Ei Ei Pyone at her home. Therefore, her father Khin Win was arrested as a hostage, in Maubin Township, Ayeyarwady Region.
