Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

From September 15 onwards, AAPP will not publish a briefing, detention, and fatality list on Saturday’s and Sunday’s.
As of January 13, (1466) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. These (3) fallen heroes from Kyimyindine Township in Yangon Region and Tabayin Township in Sagaing Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.
As of January 13, a total of (8589) people are currently under detention. (603) people have been sentenced in person, of them 41 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1966 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 80 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.
On December 31, 2021, the armed wing of the Junta raided Shwe Dar Kan Village in Tabayin Township, Sagaing Region. Two villagers named Kyaw Thu and Win Myint were arrested and tied up. The two villagers died when the junta then stabbed them with a knife in the neck.
Hmue Yadanar Khet Moh Moh Tun, who is a reporter at MPA News Agency, was taken from No. 2 Military Hospital to Shwepyithar Interrogation by security forces, on the morning of January 11. On December 5, 2021, the junta crushed her with a car, while she was gathering news about a protest on Pan Pin Gyi Road in Kyimyindine Township, Yangon Region. She faced severe injuries on her head and one side of her face, and nearly her whole leg, from the top of the thigh, was broken.
