Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of January 11, (1461) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (2) fallen heroes today. These (2) fallen heroes from Thabeikkyinn Township in Mandalay Region were killed on January 9 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.  

As of January 11, a total of (8530) people are currently under detention. (599) people have been sentenced in person, of them 41 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1966 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 80 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.

On January 9, at around 7 pm, two villagers named Phyo and Zarni, living in Kyar Nhyat Village in Mandalay Region’s Thabeikkyinn Township, were shot dead on the spot, by soldiers from the armed wing of the Junta. This happened between Mya Bayin Sugar Factory and Mya Taung Village in Sagaing Region’s Htigyaing Township. Phyo and Zarni were shot by the junta, as they were found driving on the same motorbike. 

On January 9, when the junta did not find Cho Lwin at home, they arrested her brother, Than Aye, at around 8 am, as a hostage. They both live in Myaung Pale Ward in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township.
