Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of December 13, (1329) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today, there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of December 13, a total of (7988) people are currently under detention. (387) people have been sentenced in person, of them 36 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1964 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 75 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.

In December, Chit Naing, a first-year distance education student majoring in Geography at Dawei University, Tanintharyi Region, was sentenced to a total of 11 years imprisonment by the special court at Dawei Prison. He was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment under Section 52(a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law, 3 years imprisonment under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code and one year imprisonment under Section 19(f) of the Arms Act. Chit Naing was arrested in Dawei on July 20, by plain-clothed personnel from the armed wing of the Junta, due to the accusation of having association to the PDF.

In addition, Nyo Mar Oo, Dawei District Protest Committee member, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months imprisonment under charges, including Section 505(a) of the Penal Code.
