Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of December 2, (1302) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (2) fallen heroes today. Thes (2) fallen heroes from Myingyan Township and Sintgine Township in Mandalay Region were killed on previous days and were documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of December 2, a total of (7687) people are currently under detention. (345) people have been sentenced in person, of them 34 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1963 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 73 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.

On November 29, Than Tun Aung, living in Kaimyauk Village in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region was killed about four hours after his arrest. He died from being beaten by junta police and soldiers. 

On November 30, Aung Myo Htet, who works as a research associate at ISP-Myanmar, was sentenced to two years imprisonment under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code. He was arrested on April 20 in Kantbalu Township, Sagaing Region when he was at a tea shop. Aung Myo Htet was a former editor of The Voice Journal.
