Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of October 9, (1161) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (1) fallen hero today. This (1) fallen hero from Madayar Township in Mandalay Region was killed on October 6 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of October 9, a total of (7164) people are currently under detention. (348) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1989 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees.

Thein Zaw, who is a tuition teacher and founder of Htoo Chun Aung Education Border and living in King Village in Taung Kan Village Tract in Mandalay Region’s Madayar Township was arrested by terrorist junta troops at a checkpoint in Madayar on October 6 at 5 pm. Thein Zaw was later murdered by the junta, and his body found near Lamine Village.

Dhamma Salila Sayadaw U May Dar Nanda from Pyinnyar Zay Yone Monastery in Myaungmya Township in Ayeyarwady Region was arrested by many terrorist junta soldiers on the night of October 8. 

Zing Htung Nawng Lat, a 20-year-old living in Naung Mi Village in Kachin State’s Tanaing Township was kidnapped by junta troops to be used as a human shield so that the KIA would not attack the military junta column on October 8.
