Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of October 6, (1158) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of October 6, a total of (7104) people are currently under detention. (343) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1989 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees.

On October 2 at around 11 pm, security forces of the terrorist junta raided the home of Min Zaw, owner of an aluminum and doors business at Tha Pyay Kone Village in Ayeyarwady Region’s Myanaung Township. He was accused of making handmade guns and mines. The junta arrested his wife, Yi Yi Cho as a hostage, when they did not find Min Zaw.

On October 2, Sue Sha Shin Thant, an LGBT activist, was arrested in Mandalay while driving a motorbike. The junta crashed a car into the motorbike, in order to make the arrest. Sue Sha Shin Thant is now being interrogated at an interrogation center. 

AAPP will continue to keep you informed of verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update our lists to the details of these alleged offences. The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma), otherwise known as AAPP, is a human rights organization based in Mae Sot, Thailand and Rangoon, Burma.
