Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of September 28, (1139) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. These (3) fallen heroes from Sanchaung Township in Yangon Region and Kalay Township in Sagaing Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of September 28, a total of (6891) people are currently under detention. (293) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1989 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees.

On September 26, terrorist junta troops, stationed in a high school in Tharsi Sanpya Village in Sagaing Region’s Kalay Township, opened fire with artillery shells. Consequently, a local villager, Kyaw Htay was shot dead. 

The terrorist junta troops took four youths from an apartment in Myaynigone in Sanchaung Township, Yangon Region, and tortured and killed them on the road, on September 25 at 1:30 am. Two of the four youths killed were volunteers, a doctor called Zin Linn who is involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), and a nurse called Khin Khin Kywel from 500 Beds Hospital in Yangon.

Zaw Wann Maung, office head of 88 Peace and Open Society, was arrested on September 19. Since then, he has not been in contact with his family, and no information has been given in relation to him or his disappearance. 

AAPP will continue to keep you informed of verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update our lists to the details of these alleged offences.
