Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of September 21, (1114) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of September 21, a total of (6666) people are currently under detention. (280) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1984 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees.

Zayar Win Htike, former chairman of the Veterinary Science University Student Union, was arrested on September 16 at North Dagon Township in Yangon Region. Following his arrest, contact with Zayar Win Htike was cut off and the location of his detention unknown. He is a member of the University Students’ Unions Alumni Force and Peacock Generation Thangyat troupe. 

Aye Nandar Soe, chairman of Sagaing University of Education Student Union from the All Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU), was arrested by junta forces wearing plainclothes, on the afternoon of September 19. In addition to this, Win Htet Mar a.k.a Amar, a former youth chairman of the Democratic Party for a New Society of Pabedann Township, and Kyaw Zin Linn and Pyae Phyo Kyaw a.k.a Kyar Lay from ABFSU, were arrested at their apartments in Yangon Region’s Tamwe Township by the terrorist junta forces, on September 19.
