Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of September 16, (1105) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (12) fallen heroes today. These (12) fallen heroes from Shwebo Township and Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, Gantgaw Township, Pauk Township and Myaing Township in Magway Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of September 16, a total of (6572) people are currently under detention. (276) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1984 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees.

Zin Min Oo, who was seriously injured after arrest, and tortured by the terrorist junta soldiers, died on September 15 at 11 pm in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region. On September 2 around 8 pm, five locals including Zin Min Oo were arrested and then beaten while they were returning home from Shwebo Industrial Zone. Zin Min Oo, Naing Myo and Oakkar Oo, three of the five locals, received serious injuries and were sent to the hospital that night. However, Naing Myo died the following day due to these injuries consistent torture. 

On the night of September 14, ten junta soldiers wearing plainclothes raided and opened fire into Taung Bet village in Magway Region’s Pauk Township and arrested 42-year-old Sandar Win with 18 million Kyat, who was helping to raise funds for a local armed group. She was then shot dead at close range to the back of her head.
