Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of September 8, (1054) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. These (3) fallen heroes from Kalay Township in Sagaing Region and Dimawso Township in Kayah State were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.
As of September 8, a total of (6324) people are currently under detention. (265) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1984 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees.
On September 7, Win Aung and Shine Wunna Aung from Ashae See Village in Sagaing Region’s Kalay Township, were killed, after they were arrested and forced to act as guides, by terrorist junta soldiers. On September 8, their bodies were found at Doe Nwel Village, by locals who re-entered the village when they heard the junta troop left, after setting up a camp there. According to a local villager, there were injuries on their bodies, consistent with torture.
On the night of September 7, Jar Zin Tar, an 8 years old girl, living in Daw Ngan Khar (2) Ward in Dimawso Township, Kayah State, died in a car and motorbike accident. One other civilian got serious injuries from the accident, as locals fled in fear overnight when Dimawso Police Station fired artillery shells.
AAPP will continue to keep you informed of verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update our lists to the details of these alleged offences.
