Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of September 7, (1051) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (2) fallen heroes today. These (2) fallen heroes from Pyay Township in Bago Region and Pale Township in Sagaing Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of September 7, a total of (6313) people are currently under detention. (265) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1984 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees. 

On September 5, the terrorist junta’s troops raided 55 Mile Village in Sagaing Region’s, Pale Township. A local villager, Khin Zaw was shot dead, as he did not stop his motorbike for the junta soldiers. 

Zaw Linn Htet and his younger cousin Yan Paing Phyo a.k.a Ah Nge, living in Pyay Township in Bago Region, were arrested and beaten by the terrorist junta forces on September 6 at around 3:30 pm, after being accused of alleged association with the Basic Education Students Union. Zaw Linn Htet died a few hours after detention, at the 100-bed military hospital in Pyay due to excessive bleeding from injuries consistent with torture. 

AAPP will continue to keep you informed of verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update our lists to the details of these alleged offences.
