Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of September 6, (1049) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. These (3) fallen heroes from Ye-u Township and Shwebo Township in Sagaing Region and Pwintbyu Township in Magway Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of September 6, a total of (6257) people are currently under detention. (265) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1984 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees. 

On the night of September 4, Khaing Zaw from Phan Kar Zin Village in Sagaing Region’s Ye-u Township was shot dead in the groin, when he ran into terrorist junta soldiers. 

Naing Myo from Lone Taw Village in Sagaing Region’s Shwebo Township, was arrested by the terrorist junta troops on September 3 at around 2 am, for alleged association with the PDF. He died hours after his arrest due to the injuries from beatings consistent with torture. There were wounds on his thighs, hip and back of his body. 

On September 1, Than Toe Aung a.k.a Balue, living in Kyay Su Village in Magway Region’s Pwintbyu Township, was shot as he ran away when junta troops came to arrest him for allegedly being in the PDF. Than Toe Aung a.k.a Balue managed to escape with a gunshot injury, but on September 4, his injured body was found dead. 

AAPP will continue to keep you informed of verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update our lists to the details of these alleged offences. If you receive any information about detentions of, or charges against CSO leaders, activists, journalists, CDM workers, other civilians and fallen heroes in relation to the military and police crackdown on dissent.
