Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of 24 August, (1014) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (1) fallen hero today. This (1) fallen hero from Kyimyindine Township in Yangon Region died today and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of August 24, a total of (5851) people are currently under detention. (255) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1984 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees. 

Khin Myat Thu, a Pyithu Hluttaw MP and NLD member of Mingaladon Township in Yangon Region, was arrested with her husband by the terrorist junta on the morning of August 22. In addition to this, on August 22 at around 8 am, Htay Win, MP of Htilin Township in Magway Region and executive member of the NLD in Magway Region, was arrested at Sar Kyin Village in Pakokku Township, Magway Region. 

On August 22 at around 4 pm, Kyaw San Htoo, Magway Region NLD executive member was arrested at his Panmata Village home in Magway Region’s Aung Lan Township by the terrorist junta. Moreover, on the morning of August 21, Kyaw Soe Win a.k.a Kay Kay, NLD executive member in Aung Lan Township, was arrested at Shwe Pan Taw Village in Aung Lan Township. 

AAPP will continue to keep you informed of verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update our lists to the details of these alleged offences. If you receive any information about detentions of, or charges against CSO leaders, activists, journalists, CDM workers, other civilians and fallen heroes in relation to the military and police crackdown on dissent.
