Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of 29 July, (936) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of July 29, a total of (5425) people are currently under detention. (255) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1963 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees. 

Phoe Zaw from Hinthar Tike Village in Magway Region’s Taungdwingyi Township was arrested on July 28 when the terrorist junta did not find his son who is allegedly connected to the PDF. In addition to this, Zin Ko Ko Khant, a university student of the Mathematics Department of Taungoo University, who is involved in philanthropy, was arrested on July 28 while helping people in need of oxygen. Four civilians including Khant Zaw Paing Oo (Myauk Gyi) were also arrested with him. It is reported that Zin Ko Ko Khant and Khant Zaw Paing Oo (Myauk Gyi) are still being detained and three civilians were released. 

Kyaw Bo Bo Khant, a second-year student of  Yamethin Technological University, who led the Naypyitaw Students Union Protest Column was evading arrest at the monastery in Pyinmana when was beaten and arrested there on July 27. Kyaw Bo Bo Khant was also suffering from illness when arrested.
