Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of 16 July, (912) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. Today there were no confirmed fallen heroes. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of July 16, a total of (5277) people are currently under detention. (254) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1963 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees. 

On July 15, Sai Bo Bo Aung, Chairman of Tai-Leng (Red Shan) Nationalities Development Party (TNDP), was arrested at his home by junta soldiers and police in Khanti Town, Sagaing Region. 

Two children named Aung Swan Pyae, the 12-year-old son of a tea shop owner, and a 15-year-old waiter, who were arrested when the terrorist junta raided a tea shop in Ohn Pin Chan village, Sintgine Township, Mandalay Region on July 6, are being charged under Section 5 and 6 of the Explosive Substances Act and currently detained in the Sintgine Police Station jail cells.

If you receive any information about detentions of, or charges against CSO leaders, activists, journalists, CDM workers, other civilians and fallen heroes in relation to the military and police crackdown on dissent.
