Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

From tomorrow onwards, AAPP will not publish a briefing, detention, and fatality lists on Sunday’s.  

As of 3 July, (890) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (2) fallen heroes today. These (2) fallen heroes from Myingyan Township in Mandalay Region were killed yesterday and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of July 3, a total of (5၀86) people are currently under detention.  (233) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1964 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. 

Total 65 sentenced to death in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees. 

On the night of July 2 at Myingyan Township in Mandalay Region, Moe Hein, a high school teacher at a private school, and his wife Su Su Hlaing, both were former executive members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Myingyan Township, were shot to death by a pro-junta group called “Pyu Saw Htee”

Pwint Wai, a nurse, from Shan Inn Village in Sagaing Region’s Kalaywa Township, who is involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), was arrested by junta police in the evening of July 2.  Nyein Chan Wai from Bago Weekly Journal, who was charged under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code, was also charged under Section 124(a) of the Penal Code. He was arrested at his home in Bago Region’s Letpadan Township on the night of May 14. 

AAPP will continue to keep you informed of verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update our lists to the details of these alleged offences. If you receive any information about detentions of, or charges against CSO leaders, activists, journalists, CDM workers, other civilians and fallen heroes in relation to the military and police crackdown on dissent.
