Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,186) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (31,539) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,581) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,921) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
The junta has repeatedly bombed villages, schools and civilian areas in some regions and states such as Bago Region, Magway Region and Rakhine State and has also killed civilians in various ways. According to information collected by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), between July 10 and 19, (48) civilians, including one student, were killed and many civilians and students were injured.
In July, junta forces launched an offensive into Magway Region and apprehended, tortured and shot dead around (20) members of the People’s Defence Team (PDT) and People’s Defence Force (PDF). Additionally, according to information on the ground, five civilians were killed in villages in Myaing Township.
