⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,148) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,303) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,397) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,901) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from June 1 to 30, 2026, (21) people in total; (12) women and (9) men, were killed by the junta in Sagaing Region, including (2) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (13) people were killed by the junta’s airstrike and (3) people were killed with heavy weaponry. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (24) civilians, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On June 26, at approximately 8:30 p.m., junta forces stationed at the traditional medicine hospital in Ye-U Township, Sagaing Region, opened fire with heavy weaponry on Myin Daung Village in Khin-U Township. As a result, a grandmother, Htwe Myint (aka Myo Thu), was instantly killed and her granddaughter, Yuya Naing, was struck by shrapnel. The granddaughter later passed away on June 27, while being transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
