Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,267) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,730) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,670) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,864) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to August 12, 2026, (36) people in total; (4) women and (32) men, were killed by the junta in Magway Region, including one child under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (27) people were killed by the junta after being arrested. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (21) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On July 9, Infantry Battalion No. (256) of junta forces based in Hpu Lon Village, Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, opened fire indiscriminately with heavy weaponry. A shell struck Khin Mon Village, instantly killing two individuals: Tun Naing Linn and an elderly woman named Than Chit, due to shrapnel.
