⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,253) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,715) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,655) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,864) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to August 11, 2026, a total of (52) people; (21) women and (31) men, were killed by the junta’s airstrikes across the country, including (10) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a six-month-old girl. These are the numbers that have been verified. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (28) civilians, as a result of the junta’s airstrike attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On July 31, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using jet fighter aircraft on villages in Thandwe Township, Rakhine State. A bomb exploded on a grocery store in Shwe Hlay Village, instantly killing the store owners, who were husband and wife, Myo Zaw Win and May Myat Lwin, along with Swe Zin Aye, from bomb shrapnel. During the attack, the store owners’ son, a child under 18 years old named Nyan Linn Aung, sustained severe injuries and died while being transported to hospital for medical treatment.
