Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,952) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (30,707) people have been arrested by the junta in connection with opposition to the arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,401) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,886) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

The junta’s targeted attacks on civilians have intensified, and according to monitoring conducted by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), (327) civilians were killed during the four-week period of March 2026. On March 23, junta forces conducted an airstrike on Thaung Gyi Village, Myaung Township, Sagaing Region, killing six civilians. On March 25, the junta carried out airstrikes on Hpa Le Village, Kawlin Township, killing five civilians, including a pregnant woman.

In addition, attacks continued on non-military targets, including civilian houses, hospitals, and clinics. On March 23, the junta entered Min Tee Village, Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region and burned down houses, leaving almost the entire village in ruins. On March 30, an airstrike on a hospital in Nga Pu Yin Village, Butalin Township, Sagaing Region, killed three female patients and injured at least 10 others.
