Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,334) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,875) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,781) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,871) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to September 3, 2026, the junta arrested (116) people in relation to the Spring Revolution: (36) women and (80) men, across the country. The identities of these victims have been verified. Moreover, during the stated period, (65) people in total: (15) women and (50) men, were given prison sentences under specious charges by courts subservient to the junta across the country. Among them, (17) people were sentenced in Mandalay Region, recording the highest number of sentences, followed by (14) people in Bago Region.

Mya Win from Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, was arrested in 2023 for allegedly supporting the Arakan Army (AA). He was subsequently sentenced to 3 years in prison under Section 17(1) of the Unlawful Associations Act. He was released on May 29, 2026, upon completing his prison sentence, but was re-arrested at the prison entrance. On June 8, 2026, he was sentenced to an additional 10 years in prison under Section 50(j) and Section 52(a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.
