Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,122) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,236) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,355) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,884) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to June 24, 2026, the junta killed a total of (56) people in various ways after detaining them across the country. The identities of these victims have been verified, including (20) women and (36) men. This number includes (17) children under the age of 18. Among them, Bago Region recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (33) people, followed by (10) killed in Magway Region.

Beginning on June 15, combined junta forces from the No. 99 Light Infantry Division based in Meiktila Town and the No. 101 Light Infantry Division based in Pakokku Town, launched an offensive into villages in Myaing Township, Magway Region. They apprehended and killed the following individuals: Myint Oo from Hnin Si Kan Village; Kyaw Lwin from Myay Yint Village, who had been suffering from mental illness; and Nay Zaw and Min Min Oo from Meik Hti Lar Village.
