Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 11 December 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,566) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (30,114) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,688) are currently in detention, (11,423) of whom are serving sentences. 

According to the latest information gathered and confirmed by AAPP, (121) people have been arrested under the Election Protection Law, among whom (84) individuals have not yet been identified. 

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

The atrocities committed by the military junta against civilians and non-military targets have been intensifying severely. Even on December 10, the 77th International Human Rights Day, the junta carried out an airstrike  on the public hospital in Mrauk-U, Rakhine State. According to initial ground reports, 16 men and 17 women — including children — were killed, and almost (80) people were injured. Also, on November 28, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing into Kyaung Hpo Village, Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, killing seven people, including a five-year-old child, five women and two men. 

According to the data collected by AAPP,  from January 1 to December 11, 2025, (147) people in total; (72) women and (75) men, were killed by the junta’s airstrikes in Rakhine State, including (52) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (80) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
