Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 3 December 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,515) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (30,071) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,676) are currently in detention, (11,414) of whom are serving sentences. 

According to the latest information gathered and confirmed by AAPP, (117) people have been arrested under the Election Protection Law, among whom (84) individuals have not yet been identified. 

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from October 1 to December 3, 2025, a total of (200) people; (90) women and (110) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (59) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (200) deceased, (156) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. Among the (200) deaths, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities, totaling (54). 

In the early morning of December 2, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing on Nat Hmaw U Village, Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, despite no clashes occurring. The attack killed five family members _ Maung Maung Win, Yan Naing Win, Shine Ko and his wife Su Myat Linn, and their two-year-old daughter Shwe Pon San, due to bomb shrapnel.
