Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,416) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,874) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,562) are currently in detention, (11,274) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
In October, inmates were forced to perform manual labor, such as repairing buildings, in Shwebo Prison, Sagaing Region, while prison authorities were collecting money from them. Moreover, inmates, including political prisoners, were denied medical treatment in Kale Prison, Sagaing Region, and were forced to pay bribes to prison authorities to receive medical care at hospitals outside the prison.
In addition, junta forces have been carrying out attacks on civilians across the country over the past week, causing loss of life and damage to homes. On October 21, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing on Kan Daw Ward, Mogoke Township, Mandalay Region, despite no clashes occurring, killing three children from bomb shrapnel. On October 23, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing on Sa Pyin Village, Yegyi Township, Ayeyarwady Region, killing 24 people, including children. On the same day, junta forces burned down La Ba Village, which had around 90 houses, in Thayetchaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, destroying approximately 40 civilian homes. On October 24, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing on Htan Ta Pin Village, Pakokku Township, Magway Region, using paramotors, killing two local women. They also carried out an aerial bombing on Kaw Paung Village, Kyaukme Township, Shan State, despite no clashes occurring, resulting in the death of a monk.
