Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,398) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

Since the coup, a total of (29,854) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,544) are currently in detention, (11,245) of whom are serving sentences.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from October 1 to 22, 2025, the junta killed a total of (28) children under the age of 18 across the country; (15) girls and (13) boys. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, Sagaing Region and Shan State record the highest number of deaths, totaling (8) each. Among the (28) deceased, (23) children were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death.

On October 21, at approximately 3 p.m., junta forces carried out an aerial bombing on Kan Taw Ward, Mogoke Township, Mandalay Region, despite no clashes occurring at the time. The explosion struck near Kan Thone Lone Futsal Football Field, located in the ward, with the bomb shrapnel killing three children playing football—Mon Thu, Khu Thar, and Char Shee.
