Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,840)people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,342) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,184) are currently in detention, (10,882) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
While the junta is holding the so-called ‘Peace Forum’ in Nay Pyi Taw from June 25 to 27, civilians on the ground are suffering severely from the junta’s offensives, killings, arson, heavy weaponry fire, and airstrikes, forcing them to flee their homes. On June 25, junta forces bombed an area in Mawchee, inside Hpasawng Township, Kayah State, killing seven civilians and injuring dozens more. On June 26, they fired heavy weaponry into Ka Nyin Te Village, Lin Yaung Khin Village, and Chauk Aein Su Village in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region, killing two locals. In addition, on June 27, junta forces launched an offensive into villages in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, and set fire to Kin Village, which holds nearly 200 houses, burning down almost the entire village. On the same day, they also entered the nearby village of Min Kun and set fire and destroyed nearly 600 homes.
Political prisoners who are being arbitrarily held in prisons are also being deliberately denied their rights that are stipulated in Burma’s jail manual. This includes the right to healthcare and access to nutritious food. Aung Kyaw Oo, the Mandalay Regional Hluttaw Chairman of the National League for Democracy (NLD) was detained in Mandalay (Obo) Prison in Aungmyaythazan Township, Mandalay Region. He suddenly suffered a heart attack in the early morning of June 27, 2025, and died while receiving emergency medical treatment at the prison hospital. However, his body was not returned to his family.
