Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 10 June 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,793) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (29,261) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,122) are currently in detention, (10,813) of whom are serving sentences. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from June 1 to 10, 2025, (19) people in total; (7) women and (12) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (5) children under the age of 18.  The identities of these victims have been verified. Among these deaths, Kayin State recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (5), and (16) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. 

On the afternoon of June 9, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing in Paing Yat Village, Kawkareik Township, Kayin State. An explosion struck a house in the village where a class was being held, killing the teacher, Moe Thuzar (aka Mi Zin), an elderly man named Kalar Gyi, and three children—Mi Chit Pone, Wai Yan Aung, and La Yeik Cho. At least ten other children were also injured by bomb shrapnel.
