Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 6 June 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,776) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (29,247) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,108) are currently in detention, (10,769) of whom are serving sentences. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to June 6, 2025, (93) people in total; (17) women and (76) men, were killed after being detained by the junta across the country. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the deaths, Magway Region records the highest number of fatalities, totaling (42).

On May 30, Saw Lah Htu from Pein Hne Taw Village, Thaton Township, Mon State, left his home to forage in the jungle. During this time, he was apprehended by a military column of around 100 personnel traveling from Pein Hne Taw Camp to Win Tar Pan Camp. On June 3, his body was found in an area of jungle between Pu Yit Kho and Inn Villages in Thaton Township, bearing injuries indicative of torture.
